Why Santa Loves Olive Oil

Why Santa Loves Olive Oil

When it comes to gifts, sometimes Santa plays favorites. He's a pretty busy guy so he needs a go-to present that checks all the boxes. What is it, you ask? Olive oil.

Why Santa Loves Olive Oil

It keeps him young and healthy

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a powerhouse when it comes to health foods. It fights against numerous diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, heart disease and stroke because it's full of protective antioxidants called polyphenols that fight free radicals in the body.

Olive oil is a great source of fat. Now, before you get apprehensive, this isn't a bad thing. The predominant fat found in olive oil is monounsaturated fat - it makes up about 75% of its fat content. A diet rich in monounsaturated fat boosts anti-inflammatory benefits, promotes weight loss, and protects your heart. The body can’t create its own fatty acids, which is why we need to get them from dietary sources - like olive oil! These fatty acids also help to reduce the levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, and they promote healthy skin and hair!

Olive oil also contains high levels of Vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects the body against eye and skin problems, cancer and diabetes, and Vitamin K, an essential nutrient necessary for responding to injuries.

His favorite cookies are made with It

Olive oil is a wonderful alternative to butter or other cooking oils in most baked goods recipes. It lends itself perfectly to Italian style cookies, cakes, savory muffins and breads.

Why Santa prefers it over other oils or butter? It's richness adds depth and heightens the flavor of any baked good. It also touts amazing health benefits (mentioned above)

It's best to use a milder olive oil when baking. Try something fruity and buttery, like our Delicate EVOO, instead of a richer, more robust profile.

Want to give it a try? You can do a straight substitution when a recipe calls for a vegetable oil or any other type of oil. If you are replacing butter, follow our handy butter to oil conversion chart.

It makes the perfect gift

It's versatile - With different flavors to fit different preferences, it covers everyone on your list. Mother-in-law? Meyer LemonBoss? Roasted GarlicDad? BaconWhether you're giving a white elephant gift, or in need of a last minute hostess present, olive oil has you covered.

Olive oil also takes name shapes. There's olive oil soap, or olive oil lip balm...and those are go-to stocking stuffers for Santa!

It's unique - Giving a locally produced, hand-crafted gift always stands out. Show up with a bottle of olive oil instead of wine this year at your holiday party.

It's delicious - You can't go wrong with high-quality extra virgin olive oil, especially when you know where it comes from. The nutty, grassy aroma and the rich, herbaceous flavor has us salivating just thinking about it. It's a flavorful, healthful gift that keeps on giving.

Do you agree with Santa? We hope you do!
