How great is it to have soft skin? What if you could not only have smooth, luxurious feeling skin but healthy, liquid gold nourished skin all year round? Take it from someone who, every evening, gives herself a self massage with olive oil....It’s incredible.

If you haven't noticed, Summer is here. Along with the long sunny days spent by the pool, comes those inevitable sunburns. Even if you do use protection, a pesky burn may occur. And man, can it HURT.

Self-massage, also known as Abhyanga, is a traditional Indian self-care regimen. It is used to help stimulate and detoxify lymph, tone the muscles, lubricate the joints, balance the nervous system, increase circulation, improve sleep patterns and much more.
Self-massage with olive oil is something that has been practiced for centuries and is incredible for the skin. It moisturizes it while increasing its firmness - reducing wrinkles and promoting youthful skin. This treatment takes no prep time and uses an ingredient you most likely have in your kitchen. My two sisters, Mom and I have been doing this for years now and let me just tell you, it works!
Watch me demonstrate in our video below how easy and stimulating it is to self-massage with olive oil...
Sometimes I drink wine, other times I light candles. On days when I need to totally de-stress, I look to the tub. There's nothing quite like a good bath...your muscles relax and the tension fades away in your back and neck. To make it extra luxurious, I always add a home-made bath bomb. The fizzy bubbles, essentials oils, and beneficial minerals are a treat for the senses.
This DIY Bath Bombs recipe is one of my favorites! I recommend making at least 12 at a time so you have them on hand. I keep them in a little basket by my tub. They serve as a good reminder to settle back and simmer down when I need it most :) It's about time you treated yourself, don't you think?
I don't know about you, but lip balm is a pretty important part of my daily beauty routine. I use it everyday, all day. I hate when my lips feel chapped or flaky... it's not a pleasant sight, either. Keeping the delicate skin of my lips hydrated is a full-time job that's done with the help of olive oil. Yes, you heard me... olive oil.

What are essential oils?
Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians, traditional Chinese culture, Vedic Indian culture, and in the Roman Empire. The oils were used in different religious and ceremonial rituals symbolizing purification and used in healing therapies.
These oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts that come from various parts of a plant. These oils are most commonly steam distilled, but can also be expressed (cold pressed), percolated, extracted with a solvent, or extracted in a number of other ways. These potent oils are used in aromatherapy and often used in many other holistic healing modalities. But knowing how to use them properly is key in getting the most out of your oils..
